This week I’m working with Sun-Pat on their Fuel Your Dreams Campaign. So, what did you dream of being when you were a child? I remember being fiercely determined from the youngest of ages to run my own business. I have always wanted to be my own boss, dictate my own working hours and build a company from the ground up. When I was younger, it was hard to decide how best to channel such ambition but something twigged in me once I gave birth to Sophie this year and a business as well as a baby has also been born in 2016. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to combine a talent with my passions and turn them into a real business. It’s exciting times over here!
Having said that, starting a new business is hard work, especially when you are doing it around the demands of a young family. Long hours, little sleep and endless juggling of balls are all par for the course for many months, even years when you first start out. A marathon, not a sprint I think is the best description.
If you have been reading my blog recently you may have noticed references popping up to my recent gym habit and healthy eating. For me, keeping fit, healthy and active are an essential part of setting up my business. You’d think with two kids, a blog and a new business that I’d have no time for the gym and it’s true, I don’t! However I’m making time because we have all heard the ‘healthy body – healthy mind’ slogan. I need to keep my energy levels up and my health in tip top shape in order to keep on juggling!
According to the latest research, Sun-Pat say that four out of five people who do achieve their dreams had an active childhood. As a firm advocate of being healthy and active as well as being a complete peanut butter fiend I thought I would share with you a few ways that I use peanut butter to maintain my healthy eating and active lifestyle.
I have a few go-to recipes that I use to boost my energy and refuel my muscles. One of them is my perfect, peanut butter, protein smoothie for when I’m in a hurry. The other is this:
- 1 slice of granary bread, toasted
- A big dollop of peanut butter (crunchy – always!)
- 2-3 sliced strawberries
Easy, filling and delicious. In fact, this is often a go-to snack for any time of the day (or night!) when I need a bit of a pick me up. Peanut butter is one of my favourite ingredients, packed full of protein and really good for you as part of a balanced diet. Occasionally, I will substitute the strawberries for banana (I know – what a risk-taker!), which makes a brilliant breakfast. Sometimes just a dollop of yummy peanut butter with sliced apple as a snack can do the trick and stave off those mid-afternoon, isn’t it bedtime yet munchies. How do you like to eat your peanut butter?
As part of the Fuel Your Dreams campaign, Sun-Pat have teamed up with Olympic hero Adam Peaty and TV presenter Helen Skelton to offer you the chance to actually live your childhood dream and be who you want to be for the day. How cool is that! I’m kind of wishing that my dream was something more adventurous like an astronaut now!
All you have to do to enter is to visit the Sun-pat Fuel Your Dreams webpage and tell them what you dream of being for the day. Think big! Eight lucky runners up will win a year’s supply of peanut butter (living the dream people) and £1000 donation to their local group of choice. The competition is open until 16th November so what are you waiting for?!
Get dreaming, good luck and let me know how you get on!
