As parents we all know the joy of getting a good night’s sleep.
Lets face it, it probably doesn’t happen that often if you are in possession of a mini sleep thief.
Whether it’s for a few broken hours a night or on the rare occasions you and they sleep right through (ha!) we need our sleep and we need our beds to be an oasis of calm and comfort.
Dimmed or soft lighting, scented candles, a cosy, freshly laundered bed, maybe even a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow to soothe you into the land of nod. Bliss.
Ok I wish.
The reality is that most of us are sleeping a few hours at a time (at best), tiny toes and elbows are prodding us in the back/neck/face and we lie awake making lists whilst listening to the sound of our partner snoring away happily. Not quite so relaxing.
So I’m sure you’ll agree, that we need those precious few hours of sleep to be good ones. Aside from booting your partner out to snore in the spare room, a key aspect of getting a good night’s sleep is a decent mattress. Too soft, too firm, too old or too lumpy and you are sure to wake with a sore back and a bad mood.
Our mattress is six years old now (don’t judge me) and it’s fair to say that it’s not in good shape. Shaun has a rickety old back at the best of times (he will love me for that!) and he wakes every morning with a good old moan about his aches and pains due to the general rubbishness of our current mattress.
So when the lovely people at Leesa got in touch and offered us the chance to try out one of their mattresses, we jumped at the chance.
Usually, when you buy a mattress there are a zillion different types to choose from and you have to spend ages trying them all out in a store, pretending that this is not the-most-awkward-thing-ever. Not so with Leesa. They just have one type of mattress and they offer you 100 days to try it out in the privacy of your home. If you don’t like it then they will refund your money. I like this idea because lets face it, you do have to sleep on a mattress for a while to really know if it’s right for you anyway.
The Leesa mattress is an innovative design made from three layers of high quality foam to cool, contour and support you into getting a good night’s sleep.
Now, I don’t know if you have ever slept on a traditional memory foam mattress but they are actually kind of annoying. For some reason they overheat you like crazy and there is a permanent imprint where you sleep. Not great if you like to roll about in your sleep.
However, the Leesa mattress has been carefully designed to avoid these traditional pitfalls, ensuring that the three different layers are designed to provide the optimum support and comfort during those precious few hours of sleep.
The Leesa website is incredibly simple to navigate and I ordered our mattress within literally five minutes. Just a few days later a delivery driver arrived and it was as simple as that.
Considering the size of a double mattress, the box seemed quite small, albeit enormously heavy. As Shaun so charmingly put it “this thing weighs as much as you do!”
The instructions for unboxing were clearly labelled under the top of the box making the process pretty fuss free. This is just the kind of thing I like. I can’t stand anything that is complicated to set up – make my life easier and I will be sure to love you! To be fair though, even I couldn’t go wrong with these instructions!
I have to say that so far the mattress has proved to be every bit as comfortable as they claim it will be. Even Sophie has given her seal of approval in preparation for all the sleep thievery she will no doubt be planning for it.
It’s a great mattress, providing just the right balance of squish and support. We slept like babies – pardon the world’s most inaccurate pun.
Overall this is a great product ordered from an easy to use website with no-fuss delivery options.
Not only is it a fab thing to fall asleep on but if you are buying from Leesa, then you are shopping with a company who like to give back. For every ten mattresses that are sold, Leesa donate one to charitable organisations across the UK. For example, earlier this year, they donated 62 mattresses to Mustard Tree – a charitable organisation that provide life support to homeless people in Manchester. Leesa have also committed to providing a further 300 to various shelters across London. What a fantastic way to give back to the community. With homelessness being the thing that upsets me more than anything, this is perhaps my favourite thing about this company. Love.
More information about the Leesa mattress can be found on their website.
So tell me, how do you make sure that you are getting a good night’s sleep? And how much sleep are you really getting anyway? Nosey as ever – I’d love to hear what you think about all of this so drop me a comment in the box below.
Big love and Sweet Dreams
