I’m in my thirties *sobs* and that means I can no longer get away with wearing my makeup to bed or slapping on any old moisturiser and heading out of the house. Not without scaring people or breaking out in acne anyway.
It’s a cruel irony that I am now of an age where I have wrinkles AND spots. Thanks life.
Not many of you know this but before I was a blogger I was actually trained in skincare and makeup artistry (yep that’s a word…I think) by some of the best in the business so I have had the pleasure of trying an awful lot of everything on my face which means, in general, I know what I’m looking for when I shop for products.
Hint – the most expensive price tag doesn’t always mean the best quality. However, there are some products which are worth the investment.
Despite the afore-mentioned third decade thing, I have to say that with my latest skincare regime, my skin has never looked or felt healthier and I’m crediting it to a few clever products, which I want to share with you in case you are on the hunt for something that works as hard as you do.
Let’s start with this shall we? If you are an avid beauty blogger stalker then you will know that cleansing balms are I-N right now. Pretty much anyone who’s anyone with skin is using them and I wanted in on the action. With a relatively dry skin, face washes are usually a no-go for me to be honest. I’ve yet to find a lovely one that won’t dry out my face and so a balm sounded like the right thing for me. I initially received this one in a small pot in my monthly Birchbox and I absolutely fell in love. It’s so gentle on my skin yet it can somehow remove even the thickest layer of grub / eye makeup and there is no dryness or tightness afterwards. Equally it feels like a totally lush and luxurious product which I love.
Taking care of your skin should be a pleasure, not a chore or a bore. Maybe more of an investment product with it’s higher than usual price tag but it last for a-g-e-s and in my opinion it is totally worth it.
This little beauty has been a staple part of my skincare regime for the whole year and I’m onto my third tube. Actually I’ve just run out *sobs*.
Occasionally in skincare you come across a product that is utter perfection and this is the one. Ticking all of the “get rid of those unsightly eye bags / wrinkles immediately please” boxes, it also has a cold applicator that you can massage (gently!!) around your eye area with, giving it a boost and making you feel less like a zombie from the deep and more like Holly Willoughby. At least I like to think so.
It’s lush and you need it.
Can I suggest if you are going to buy it that you do so online however as the Clarins counters in department stores have a unique ability to lure you in and empty your bank account quicker than you can say “free sample please”.
Again – a staple in my skincare regime for most of this year, Clarins have the market lead in highly moisturising face creams. It smells great, it’s hard working, it does exactly what it is supposed to and it makes for the loveliest base for my foundation. I always go back for more.
The Body Shop is something new for me. It’s a brand I’ve been ignoring. To be honest I’d passed it off as one of those brands that teenagers love and adore and then forget about. But you know what? I was oh so wrong about this. Like really wrong.
They are seriously upping their skincare game this year with their Drops of Light and Drops of Youth ranges. Leading me on to…
Maybe my fave product of all. And it’s not just me….Vogue labelled this elixir “Botox in a bottle” for it’s ability to smooth fine lines and it’s not hard to figure out why. Just add a few drops to your moisturiser each morning and evening. Literally love it and won’t live without it.
This one is a newbie in my makeup bag and was a free sample. I am all about the freebies clearly.
After a thorough exfoliation (see product above) I like to give my freshly scrubbed face a little pick me up and this is a lovely one. It’s not the only face mask to grace my shelves but right now it is up there with one of my faves and I’m definitely considering a repurchase.
That’s all folks. Until we meet again.
