Hi everyone! How was your weekend? I hope you have been enjoying the most of the sunshine wherever you are!
At the weekend we packed up the car and headed off down South for a bit of a mini break with the family. When I say “packed up” that’s a bit of an understatement as with two adults, a baby in a car seat, a 5ft something pre-teen, a pram and hundreds of bags of baby paraphernalia and clothes for all weather, there wasn’t one spare inch of space to be had. This did not make for the most comfortable eight hour road trip and it became quickly apparent that we have massively outgrown our little car. That’s even before we add in the teenage step kids and two dogs. I can feel a 7-seater car calling!
Despite the horrendous journey (the less said about the M25 the better!) we arrived in one piece and managed to have a fantastic weekend. The weather was fantastic, the company lovely and fun was had by all.
We stayed in a local Travel Lodge and to be honest, the least said about that the better. It was the Epsom Derby weekend so all the local hotels were booked up and the prices were high. It was a bed for the night though and served its purpose.
On Saturday it was my nephew’s birthday party and we all headed off to Mercer Lakes in Surrey for a sailing party. What a fantastic idea! The kids all got decked out in wet suits and life jackets and headed out in dinghy boats onto the lake. Afterwards there was a BBQ, birthday cake and prosecco for the adults (natch). It was a really hot day so at times it was a bit tricky trying to keep Sophie entertained but she did really well and even managed a little sleep.

All in all, it was a really lovely weekend but we will definitely be looking out for a bigger car before we travel that far again! Do you have any recommendations for good 7 seat family cars? If so, please leave a comment in the box below so we can go and check them out! We have lots of lovely trips planned over the summer and I don’t fancy being cramped up again!
Until next time lovelies
