I’ve been reflecting recently on time and how quickly it passes by. When you are running around after children, a day can seem like an eternity of snotty noses, after school clubs and squeezed in deadlines. Despite the long days, they all seem to somehow whizz by in a blur into one fast-paced week, month or year and before you know it, you are looking at your other half and wondering when on earth you last made time for one another. I’m sure you know the score, especially if like us, you welcomed a new baby into your family this year. In the midst of sleepless nights, endless feeding and teething troubles, everything else just falls by the way side doesn’t it?
I don’t talk much about my other half on the blog, mainly because he prefers to stay on the incognito side of things (ie the technical wizardry!) but it’s true to say that he is the love of my life. Ahhhh.
Ok enough of that mushy stuff. He is a keeper and really good to me so I’ve had it in mind to get him a little something to show him that I appreciate all he does for us (like fixing the things I break and not complaining at my terrible taste in TV).
As a bit of a watch obsessive, I knew Shaun would love a new, unique men’s watch on his wrist and so I was thrilled to be able to work with JORD Wood Watches recently to give him the perfect men’s watch.
There were lots of really stylish designs to choose from on the JORD website but in the end I went for the DOVER Series in Zebrawood. There was another version in Dark Sandalwood but I decided that the warm tones of the Zebrawood would be perfect for the Autumn season. The zebrawood is sustainably sourced, hand-finished and treated with special oils to make sure that it arrives in style.
I was so impressed when it arrived quickly and in immaculate condition by UPS from America. From the minute we unwrapped this unique men’s watch in it’s beautifully crafted wooden box, it was obvious that this was going to be a quality product.
It was fair to say that Shaun was really pleased with his stylish new men’s watch. Not one for many words, it was reassuring to hear phrases such as “really well-made” and “a real classic” being offered up. That’s high praise indeed let me tell you!
I have to say that I wasn’t sure what to expect of a wooden men’s watch but the first thing you notice about the watch is how beautiful it is. The wood is so smooth with no bumps or imperfections at all. Sapphire crystal glass protects the pristine mechanisms within and the fact that you can see them all ticking away inside is a really stylish feature of this unique wooden watch.
Easy to operate and adjust, the watch fitted Shaun’s wrist perfectly. If it had been too big or small it wouldn’t have been a problem as it arrived with an extra link and a pin to adjust the size easily.
Shaun is absolutely loving wearing his unique men’s watch and I know he has had lots of admiring comments at work recently about it. Zak also gave the watch his seal off approval, announcing that the watch was “well cool”. I can see a JORD watch being top of his Christmas list this year! As for me, I’m really thrilled with his JORD wood watch and will give myself a real pat on the back for getting it right this time.
I’m not usually a watch person myself but I’m seriously considering purchasing one for myself because the women’s JORD wood watches are just as lovely! You can never go wrong with a classic watch and when they are as beautifully made as the JORD wood watch collection, they make a great investment.
