What’s Hot and What’s Not is a new thing on A Mum Track Mind. Each week I am going to write a quick list of my high’s and low’s (what was hot and what was not) from the past week; a sort of online diary if you like. I find that the days are just whizzing past. I can’t seem to keep up with what day I’m on, least of all remember what happened last week.
I’m on maternity leave with my final child *sobs* and I told myself that I would stop and savour each day, no matter how shitty (literally) and yet I find myself busier than ever. A mixture of sleepless nights, long days running around after my crazy family and the all-consuming business of blogging is making it difficult to stop and smell the roses, or nappies or whatever. Anyway, I just want to write it down so I can look back and remember all hotness and notness (not a word but it should be) that made up 2016.
What’s Hot
- Seeing my Domain Authority (DA) jump up a lot higher than I expected. I’ve been working really hard on this so it was lovely to see such an unexpected rise.
- Mr S bought me a beautiful bunch of flowers just because.
- Booking our family summer holiday. We are taking the kids to the South of France for a week of sun, sea and sand in August which sounds amazing.
- Looking forward to #BML16 – I’ve been excited for this for months!
- We had a lovely Father’s Day family meal on Sunday at the Mother-in-Law’s. Fab company and I didn’t have to cook or wash up – bonus!
- Zak was awarded his Silver Award from Scouts this week – a big achievement and a proud moment.
- My linky #fortheloveofBLOG trended on Twitter all of Saturday morning! Just a bit exciting!
What’s Not
- Sophie has whooping cough. This has without a doubt been the worst thing about this week. Nobody wants to see their children sick but we have had to fight for the diagnosis which has made it much more stressful. Sophie is fully vaccinated and yet inexplicably has still contracted the infection. It’s a horrible illness and we have a long way to go before she makes a full recovery. Fingers crossed no more hospital stays though!
- I’ve been comfort eating, which means I’ve put two pounds on instead of losing them this week. Booo.
So that’s it for this week. What was hot and what was not so hot for you? Let me know in the comments box below.
xxx
Yayyy to flowers for not reason! So romantic! And Yayyy to Zaks scout badge! Sorry to hear that Sophie has been poorly, it’s just utterly dreadful to see your little ones poorly, no wonder you have been comfort eating, I don’t blame you! I hope that she feels better soon. Much love! #coolmumclub

So worrying with a poorly little one you must be exhausted with just that- hope she is fully on the mend. Many high points to your week too and now I can fully empathise with the energy for blogging and lack of time- we have massively increased our social media following but it has been really hard work increasing content but given us a great emotional boost! That was our high! Have a great time at #BML16 we are envious and hope to come next year if they will have us!!! Lou and Abby at http://www.peppermintcove.com
oops forgot so sorry #fortheloveofBLOG !!
Time goes too fast so it’s lovely to keep a note of how things have gone. Poor thing getting whooping cough, that’s not nice at all. Fingers crossed she feels better soon xx #fortheloveofBLOG

Hiya I’m so glad your ‘hots’ outweigh your ‘nots’! Not surprised you have been comfort eating with the stress of Sophie being poorly hospital stays are NOT fun.
Great you have booked a hol, we haven’t yet hoping for a last minute deal to get away somewhere! My ‘hots’ have been looking after my baby niece this week while my sister packed for holiday, we had great fun with her and she was as good as gold. My ‘nots’ have been really uncomfortable sensation in my mouth, a week ago I had a filling but something doesn’t feel right so I think I’ll have to bite the bullet and call them for advice – HUGE dentist phobia.
Have a great week xx #fortheloveofBLOG

This is a great idea! Fab list. So sorry to hear your little girl has whooping cough though. How utterly horrid for her. Must be so hard for you as Mummy to see her so poorly, and it is unbelievable that you have had to fight for the diagnosis AND she had the vaccine. But hopefully the road to recovery is on track. Really hope you have a lovely weekend. X #fortheloveofBLOG

What a great idea! Yay to the flowers, and the scout badge and to going on holiday soon 🙂 Hope Sophie gets better, whooping cough is horrid 🙁 #Fortheloveofblog
Amazing isn’t it how all those lovely things (or hotnesses – also not-a-word-but-should-be) can be overshaddowed by one thing, but I know I for one worry myself sick when one of the kids isn’t well so I feel your pain this week chick! Chin up, she’s hopefully on the up now. And congrats on your DA jump!
Sorry to hear about the whooping cough, how scary and horrible. The flowers are gorgeous though! Hmmm, I ran my farthest distance which was a high point, low point was the start of the four month sleep regression and knowing exactly how horrendous it is from the first time around! Hope your girl improves soon. #fortheloveofBLOG

Those flowers are beautiful – always so lovely having flowers in the house. Such a good idea to write down the small things , good and bad, because I know what you mean about the time flying by. It’s so scary. I saw my son in his first school play this week – a real highlight and he did amazingly well. So proud ! #fortheloveofblog
What gorgeous flowers! I was going to say it sounds like a lovely week until I got to your downsides. Whooping cough is horrible, my husband had it as a newborn apparently and was really ill with it. I hope Sophie’s all back to normal soon.
Well done on the DA – mine is inching up frustratingly slowly! #fortheloveofBLOG

Hi Fi! So lovely to meet you at last at BML16! This is a lovely idea for a post series. Pooey to the whooping cough, though. But, hey, flowers for no reason (well apart from you obviously being marvellous and deserving of them, I’m sure) is definitely a poultice to dealing with poorly kiddies. #FortheloveofBlog
Oh no sorry to hear about the Whooping cough, how awful.
Aside from that what a lovely list of lovely things. I hope BML was as fab as you hoped (was lovely to spend some time with you!). Flowers? For no reason? I may have to leave this blog post open around the house for a few days, hint hint! Great idea to remember the bits and bobs of life that whizz by.
Hope Sophie is well on the way to feeling better now.

I’m sorry about the whooping cough, it’s so hard when the children are sick : (. I’ve been dealing with a very sick 6 month old baby and have not slept in three nights! Well, broken sleep really. AND had to leave work to pick him up at nursery, he’s not allowed back for two days, eek! Anyway, that’s great about your DA and your linky : ), I love your linky, great name and great community. I like this round-up of your ups and downs, awesome idea! Thanks for the update and sharing with #StayClassyMama!

This is a good idea for a post, it does help to remind you of the little things and the big things! Oh your poor baby with whooping cough, I hope Sophie is feeling much better now. It’s so horrid when they are poorly. Well done to Zak on his Scout’s badge. Sounds like you’ve had a good week bar the illness. I so hear you on the comfort eating, I don’t know what is wrong with me at the mo, I just keep on snacking!
#fortheloveofBLOG
Oh poor Sophie! Hope she’s on the mend soon & you, you have every right to comfort eat if that helps you through it
They are lovely flowers, and yay the BritMumsLive!! I can’t believe it was a week ago now! I’m intruguid what you’ve done for your DA? I think I must have some bad links, and my WordPress account didn’t link to my blog until a few weeks ago which wouldn’t have helped ooooops!
