Hello lovelies, I’m really pleased to have been nominated for The Mummy Tag by the lovely Bridget from Bridie by the sea because I love reading these Mummy Tag posts from everyone else. I’m just nosey I suppose but I do love to know the Mummy / blogger behind the posts that I read! For those of you who don’t know what the Mummy Tag is, I am going to answer a set of questions that everyone who does the Mummy Tag will answer. So lets get to it:
Are you a stay at home Mummy or a Working Mummy?
Right now I am on maternity leave so I guess that makes me a temporary stay at home Mummy. Due back in the office in October!
Would you have it any other way?
I really, really don’t want to go back to my old office job so yes, I would prefer to be a stay at home Mummy. Or rather a work at home Mummy because I want to go pro with my blogging/vlogging in the very near future.
Do you co-sleep?
Not any more. I co-slept and bed-shared with my son when he was little in order to get some sleep – he was the most appalling sleeper! I was only eighteen and had no clue about sleep training or anything like that – I just went with what felt natural at that point. With Sophie, I think we bed-shared about twice when she was very new and we co-slept in the same room (she was in her Moses Basket) until she was four months old. She’s happily sleeping in her own room now though.
What is your one must-have item for your baby?
Ooh tough question! The thing that I use the most might surprise you but it’s muslin cloths. Those little squares of fabric are the most useful thing I have bought as a Mummy and I go through loads of them every day. I tell everyone who is having a baby to stock up on them because they are endlessly versatile and necessary in my opinion.
How many kids do you plan on having?
Two and I’ve had them. Although, if my situation had been a little different and had I not suffered with Hyperemesis during pregnancy I probably would go on to have at least one more.
Date nights – how often do you have them?
Not often enough to be honest although we do make time to chill out with each other most evenings after about 8:30pm. Actual date nights probably only happen a couple of times a year – how bad is that?!
Your child’s favourite TV show?
Zak’s is probably something hallucinogenic like Adventure Time – (avoid at all costs) although this will change on a daily basis. Sophie is only four months old so she hasn’t got a favourite just yet!
Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?
Hmm. I’m not sure that we have fallen into this trap second time around. First time round was a different matter and we bought loads of things that were completely pointless. As a new parent you are susceptible to advertising and want your child to have the best though don’t you? Second time round, I haven’t bought all that much to be honest and I’m happy to say that we have used everything that we did buy. I wrote a post on what I consider to be the essential new born starter kit, which you can read here.
Your child’s favourite food.
Zak’s favourite food is probably something awfully bad for you like pepperoni pizza or Lindor chocolate! He doesn’t get to eat that stuff often though much to his dismay! Sophie hasn’t been weaned yet so I can’t answer for her.
How many cars does your family have?
Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?
I put on roughly 1.5 stones with both of my pregnancies and had lost it all by four months post-partum both times. However, I feel like second time around, I have to be so much more careful with what I eat. I just need to look at a cake and I’ve gained half a stone so my metabolism is much different nowadays – sadly!
Dream holiday with your kids
Dubai for all the amazing activities on offer and the endless good weather or Florida for the same reason really!
Dream holiday without your kids
I’d really like to do a road trip tour of the West Coast of America – in an open top sports car (natch)… We will be waiting a long time before that ever happens though!
How has your life changed since having kids?
In all honesty, I have been a parent the whole of my adult life (and some of my teens!) so it’s hard to answer this question. I suppose the biggest change is always going to be having to put someone else’s needs and desires above your own but honestly, these days it’s second nature.
Finish the sentence “It makes heart melt when…”
My kids play together…as a Mummy you really want your babies to love each other and be there for each other don’t you!
Where do you shop for your kids?
Marks and Spencer is a favourite for both of them. Zak is growing up and developing his own sense of style – he doesn’t want Mummy interfering these days! He will often choose things from places like Sports Direct for play / sports clothes but for nicer wear we can usually find something in M&S, Next, H&M or FatFace. If you have watched my YouTube channel you will see my clothing hauls for Sophie – my current favourite stores are Joules, M&S and Next.
Favourite make-up and skincare products?
I’m quite a low maintenance girl in terms of products but my go-to skincare regime consists of Simple Face Wash and Exfoliator, Clarins Hydra-Quench Serum and Nivea Q10 Face Cream. Makeup – I’m a big fan of the Rimmel Wake Me Up range. I have worked on the makeup counters in department stores and been able to try many of the high-end foundations and in my opinion, this range is every bit of good for a fraction of the price.
Huggies or Pampers?
Neither. I use Tesco own brand of nappies and find them much, much better for a fraction of the price.
Have you always wanted kids?
Yes. I used to always play pretend that I had three boys. In a weird way, I’ve sort of ended up with them as I have Zak and two step-sons! You should be careful what you wish for!
Best part of being a Mummy?
Creating your own little tribe. It’s such an incredible feeling having your own babies – a bit like falling in love every day.
And that’s it – all of the questions answered!
