Hi and welcome back to my new series ‘What’s Hot & What’s Not’. Each week I am going to stop, take a breath and try to note down the highs and lows of the week. If you missed last week’s instalment then you can read it here.
What’s Hot
- The highlight of the week came from attending BritMums Live in fancy pants London town last Saturday. BML16 was my first blogging event and it was as exciting and nerve wracking as you might expect. I learned a lot, laughed a lot, met lots of new people and generally had a brilliant day. You can read about my experience here.
- Sophie has definitely turned a corner with the whooping cough and has finally stopped coughing to the point where she stops breathing. It was such an awful thing to watch her go through and I’m so pleased to see her on the mend.
- For the first time this week, Sophie is taking notice of the bedtime story. I have been reading the same story (Guess How Much I Love You) to her every night before bed for about three months now. This week she finally sat up (literally) and took notice of the book. All these little milestones happen so fast and I just wanted to note that one down.
- I have noticed a big spike in my stats this week – almost double the usual amount! I think this is down to my new, more frequent posting schedule. Blogging is hard work sometimes so it’s really exciting when you start to see the rewards.
- I’ve lost three pounds this week! *does happy dance*
What’s Not
- On Saturday I received a text telling me that my Granny had passed away. Without a doubt, this has been the worst part of the week. She was much loved and will be so very missed. I don’t want to say too much about it but it’s been a pretty rubbish week to be honest even with all the ‘what’s hot’ listed above.
- The EU Referendum vote really upset me. I can’t imagine a Great Britain isolated away from Europe and it makes me sad and worried for my children’s future here in particular. I wrote a post about it here if you want to read it.
So that’s it for this week. How was your week? What were you high’s and low’s? I’d love to know so leave a comment.
See you next week
xxx
Oh I am so sorry to read about your Granny passing away. Sending big hugs lovely xx

That is absolutely adorable that your daughter is beginning to notice the book you are reading her, I’m so excited for Bear to start understanding things like this! Side note: I’m loving this idea, it’s a great way to jot down your life because you’re right it passes by so quickly! #triballove

Great news about the whooping cough! And the book – Mother loves that book today and when I was first born, would get tearful when she read it to me (toughen up woman!) Glad you had a fab time at BML too. And woo-hoo – well done on the pounds! Whatever you’re doing is brilliant. Mother has given up bread and that one small thing seems to be having an effect x ##fortheloveofBLOG

I’m so sorry to hear about your Gran. Mine passed away when I was in my early thirties and I still think of her alot and how much influence she had on me. Sounds like a turbulent week all around, but those little moments when a child starts to take notice of things they didn’t before, make the parenting side of life a joy when everything else seems so uncertain. Jo x

So sorry to hear about your granny. I can understand the sad news must be eclipsing everything else at the moment. It’s so hard when we lose members of the older generation, and our lovely great-grand parents for our kids.
I am also sad about the EU refurendum, but on the plus side, I’ve got more interested in politics, and trying to make a difference when there’s so many difficulties in the world.
And on the positive side congratulations on doubling your stats, an amazing achievement!

Very sorry about your Granny. I’m also very worried about the future following Brexit. Scary as the more I read, the clearer it becomes that the people leading that campaign had no real plan and still managed to hoodwink over half the country. I feel a little ashamed of our nation and feel like we owe our neighbours an apology.
It’s good to see your happy list is the longest! Seeing all you seasoned bloggers attending the BML16 event has made me wonder where I’ll be in a years time… hopefully still blogging, much improved and also sporting my glad rags at an award ceremony?! A girl can dream!
So sorry about your loss. I am glad your daughter is starting to feel better, and it is wonderful she listened to the story.
Been a boring week for me really, just blog stuff and housework lol x
