Okay peeps, so Summer is over and Autumn is here in full swing. The kids are back at school, I’m back on the work life juggle and the search for the ever-elusive perfect chelsea boot is well under way. There are a whole bunch of things that I L-O-V-E about Autumn and without a doubt it is my favourite season but do you know what I don’t like? I don’t like all of the darkness.
Nope. Those 6am starts in the pitch black dark? The fact that often I head into the office in the dark and leave in the dark without so much of a sniff of sunlight? Nope. Nope. Nope. Me no likey.
And neither does anyone else. Nobody has ever said “yes I do love it when I can’t see outside anymore” because it sucks. We (sadly) aren’t bears that can eat our body weight in food, grow our leg hair and sleep until Spring so that means carrying on with our usual mum duties, just in a lot less light. Boo to that.
You know where I’m going with this because the clue is in the title – so if you want to win one of these fab Lumie Bodyclock GO 75’s to help you beat those winter blues then go ahead and enter below.

The Lumie Bodyclock GO 75 comes with a choice of whole range of wake-up sounds to go with the light, including my favourite, the dawn chorus. It’s a really gentle and natural introduction to the day providing I’m not already being poked in the face by an alert toddler that is.
I have to admit that I was sceptical to see whether the natural dawn light that the clock emits would be enough to wake me from my sleep but I needn’t have worried. The body clock mimics natural light and sends signals to your brain that the day is beginning and therefore it’s time to wake up and shake up. Or at least pour a very large cup of coffee.
If you want the science behind it, the natural light sends a signal to your body to ease up on the production of melatonin (the sleep hormone) and increase the hormones that get you fired up for the day (cortisol). The claim is that once you start your day in as natural a way as possible, the more productive and energetic you will feel throughout the day.
I found the Lumie Bodyclock Go 75 to be really easy to set up and it comes with the following features:
- 20, 30 or 45 minute sunrise to wake naturally
- 20, 30 or 45 minute sunset to wind down for bed
- Choice of five wake-up sounds: dawn chorus, drum beat, Big Ben, beep, windchimes
- Dimmable lighting for use as a bedside light
- Nightlight feature
- Snooze feature (my favourite!)
- Back-ups: optional alarm beep, power failure back-up
At this time of year I am always affected by SAD (seasonal affected disorder) and so this little treasure of a light is helping me along the way in conjunction with a light box. I found lots of really interesting information and advice on treating SAD over on the Lumie website which you can find by clicking on the link here.
So far I have been using my Lumie Bodyclock GO 75 for a few weeks and I am really impressed with it’s overall style and functionality. It beats hearing the blaring shrieks of my phone’s alarm clock anyway!
If you are entering the competition to win good luck and please see the t’s and c’s below.
Until next time – TTFN
