Summer is around the corner, and it has me all tingly that a holiday is on the horizon. After all those long winter days, it’s sun and sea here we come! But hang on, what happens if you are expecting a little one? That doesn’t mean you have to miss out on fun in the sun. In fact, there are several accommodating destinations for pregnant travellers that will put the relaxation back into a holiday. Here are just some of my top locations!
1. Cape Town
Africa has plenty of stunning scenery on offer, and Cape Town is one of the best for any expectant mothers. Why? The timezone is only 2 hours ahead of GMT, which means that all that uninterrupted sleep should soon be a thing of the past. There will be no jet lag for any parents-to-be travelling from the UK thanks to the small time difference. Plus, the gentle breeze helps to keep the temperature down. This leaves plenty of time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the picturesque views on offer.
This little island is perfect for any pregnant mothers that want to lap up some winter sun before the arrival of the little one. The country is at its peak from November all the way through to February where you will lap up the 20-degree heat. You may have to get your summer wardrobe ready earlier than expected, but it will all be worth it. If that wasn’t enough, there are also several romantic hotels dotted all across the island that will offer up the perfect amount of partner time before the new baby.
This Spanish island is a hugely popular choice for many expectant parents for various reasons. As well as the variety of activities on offer, Tenerife also offers up plenty of all-inclusive resorts all at affordable prices. As if that wasn’t enough, sea air is proven to help sleep thanks to the added negative ions that help our oxygen intake. Perhaps there are more reasons than the price to head to Tenerife this summer? If you weren’t sold already, the vitamin D boost will do wonders for your skin.
Perhaps being pregnant has left you all hot and bothered? I have spoken a lot about the warmer side of the world, but it doesn’t seem fair to leave the cooler countries off the list. So here we have the wonder that is Iceland. As well as having some of the best regions for spotting the Northern Lights, Iceland also has plenty of other chances to get out in the fresh air. The mineral-rich waters at the Blue Lagoon will leave you feeling fully refreshed before taking a stroll to the Gullfoss waterfalls to get back in touch with nature.
If you are looking for a holiday that will leave you and your partner feeling fully relaxed, then have you thought about heading over to Thailand? The sights and scenery in Phuket will create the perfect atmosphere for any expecting parents, while the number of yoga retreats and spas available across the country will add in those extra special touches. Plus, many resorts offer up adult-only options in addition to having specific packages for any expecting parents.
There are so many beautiful regions all across the world, and being pregnant gives a perfect chance to see the more relaxing side of them all. Babymoons have become hugely popular over the last few years, and you could soon be on your very own pre-baby adventure. If you have any other pregnancy friendly destinations be sure to let me know down in the comments below.
