We had the most glorious day out at the weekend at Bowland Wild Boar and Animal Park. Y’know the kind where everyone behaves themselves, people laugh rather than scowl, the sun pokes out from behind the clouds and ice cream is eaten without wasp attack? Yep. One of those.
This year, one of my resolutions was to get out and explore our home county of Lancashire as a family and Bowland Wild Boar and Animal Park was high up on the list. I’d heard lots of good things about this place and so we packed up a picnic and made the forty minute journey to Bowland Wild Boar and Animal Park in the heart of Lancashire.
Bowland Wild Boar and Animal Park has a brilliant website if you are looking to visit with all of the information on it that you would need.
A word to the wise however, I don’t think this would be a wet weather day out as it’s mostly outdoors. There are a few covered areas such as the hay barn but it wouldn’t be worth the money without at least having dry weather in my opinion.
Having said that, we had the best weather we have had all year so we were extremely lucky in that regards!
Top tips for getting the most out of the day
- Take a picnic – there’s plenty of seating and grassy areas and it will save you a small fortune in the café.
- Get there early – it opens at 10:30 and we arrived about that time so it was nice and quiet. When we were leaving at about 13:30 it was getting really busy.
- Plan which activities you want to do as they have set times for lamb feeding, tractor rides etc. Once those activities are done you can explore the animals and countryside at leisure
Anyway, we had the lovelies of days – even my 12 year old enjoyed it as I had him on camera duty 😉
Here’s a few snaps from our day.
