I’ve not done one of these posts before as I have only been blogging since February 2016 and most of that time was spent finding my feet in this world that never sleeps. When I first started A Mum Track Mind, it was on a bit of a whim and most definitely for a good old rant. Writing down how you are feeling in any given situation can be cathartic but I never dreamt anyone other than my mum would read it (thanks mum!). However, here I am, almost six months down the line with a fully established blog, having been to my first ever blogging and social media conference and spending more hours than is healthy making this into my new career. I love blogging and I’m passionate about it. As with any career or business, it only seems sensible then to set some goals to work towards in the next six months. So here goes:
Blog Stats
Ah the dreaded blog stats. I admit, I am still watching them on an almost daily basis and constantly working out what to do get more people in to the blog. Currently on around 4000 a month and I’m aiming for 10,000 a month by the year end. A tough target but as my SEO improves, I’m hoping that it is one I can meet! You have to aim high right?!
Twitter – Social media never fails to inspire me and exhaust me in equal measures. So many of the opportunities on my blog come through Twitter and I’m at just under 3000 followers. In the scheme of things that isn’t a big number at all but considering I had only 22 when I started, that’s something I’m pretty pleased about. I’d be very happy to hit 10,000 by the year end.
Instagram – Since using my new camera and really focusing on uploading good quality pictures at regular intervals (twice a day) I’ve started to see the increase in followers that I’m looking for. Hovering somewhere around 1.7k at the moment. If it hits 10,000 by the year end then nobody will be as surprised as me but I would be really happy with somewhere around the 7000 mark. I love Instagram – it is probably my favourite social media platform. I’m thinking about starting my own #community over there so I will keep you posted on that!
Facebook – This is the bane of my blogging life. I just don’t connect with it in the same way as I do with some of the other platforms and I suppose it shows in the growth. I’m dedicating some time each day to work on interacting with others and building a little community over there but it is seriously slow-going. If I get to 2000 likes by year end then I’d be pretty happy with that considering where it’s at right now.
Pinterest – Another platform that I have been mostly ignoring, although I do pin my images. For the next six months I am going to create good pins for each post and really work at this because I know it can be a really valuable source of blog traffic. I’m not so bothered about followers as such but I would like to see a significant increase in traffic coming from my pins.
General Goals
I will be continuing to work on my Domain Authority and Page Authority. It’s currently at 19, which I am really pleased about considering the amount of time I have been self-hosted. I’m unsure of the exact number I would like to see it at by December but definitely over 25.
It would be great to break into the top 200 of the TOTS100 – Ok, who am I kidding? It would be great to break into the top 100!! I’m not sure that this is realistic but it’s something to work towards anyway. A girl can dream right?! Currently at #594 so this is a massive jump to make.
I want to start producing an email newsletter to send out to my followers. I know that I am way behind the curve with this one and need to start this up ASAP. As always, there never seem to be enough hours in the day.
I would like to work with lots more brands in the next six months and showcase family travel as a positive and totally doable thing! This is kind of the ethos of my blog so it would be fantastic to work with brands with the same passion as me.
So that’s it I think! There are some really solid goals and big challenges here and it will be interesting to look back at the year end and see how I did.
Have you set yourself any blogging goals? Let me know in the comments box below – I always love to hear from you.
Until next time

Brilliant goals Fi – I always think that by writing goals down really focuses why you want to achieve them. It all sounds quite achievable too and hope you continue to grow your lovely blog. You’re an inspiration to have achieved so much in 6 months! Xx #triballove

Great goals and I’m sure you’ll do it! Positive thinking and all that. I find Twitter both brilliant and frustrating in equal measures. I’ve grown twitter a lot over the last year but often find myself hitting a bit of a brick wall. I’m amazed at the people who have 5000+ followers! #stayclassy

Positive thinking has got me this far so fingers crossed it doesn’t give up on me now haha. I know what you mean about Twitter. I’m always amazed at anyone who has thousands of followers but it just shows that it can be achieved! x

I was really tempted to write down my blogging goals – not on my site but just somewhere in one of my many notebooks – but I decided I didn’t want to be disheartened if it didn’t pan out. I am trying my best at the moment to achieve other things, so in a few months when those projects are over I think I will start putting more energy into all my platforms. I’m not that fussed if it doesn’t grow so much at the moment I think!
That’s not to say it’s not good to have goals. At the minute I have goals to write so many words a day/week! Lucy xx #triballove

I try and do one of these posts a month. A six month plan sounds too scary for me. I’m finding blog sign ups the hardest to grow (ignoring FB!) #tribe
You are doing really well! I started in March this year but really as a sideline to my part-time job rather than being a career in itself. It is however, slowly taking over, even though I haven’t earned a penny from it yet, it is so addictive. I would like to turn it into a business eventually and am hoping to increase my DA from 13 to 20 by the end of the year- I’ve been told that it needs to be around 20 for brands to want to work with you?? Your daughter is gorgeous BTW!!! xx #ablogginggoodtime

Your goals are pretty similar to mine, I’ll be interested in your follow up posts and how you’ve managed to achieve stuff. I’m mostly muddling through on trial and error, some of my attempts work, some don’t haha! Good luck, I’d love to see how you get on!

Great post, and well done on so many amazing achievements already. I recently had a little blogging break and its got me more motivated and made me plan and organise my blog better, so I would say my goals are for more organisation, getting to grips with pinterest and to have some guest bloggers write for a new series I’m writing “How to survive…..” Let me know if you would be interested? Thanks for sharing and good luck #ablogginggoodtime
