Four months after having Sophie and I am just starting to feel ready and motivated to lose the remainder of my cake baby weight. I think you really have to give yourself a bit of time and space after having a baby before you are ready to start thinking about getting your pre-baby body back. The amount of time it takes for each woman obviously varies but for me, I feel healed and relatively rested and therefore ready to get my fitness levels back. Summer is round the corner and that means letting it all hang out in a swimsuit so for me, there is no better motivation to get stuck into a healthy eating and workout routine. I don’t want to scare people on the beach after all!
Just like magic, as soon as I had decided to start exercising, an email landed in my inbox from Hey Workout – an interactive Yoga and fitness studio, offering me the chance to try out their online classes. I had never heard of Hey Workout before but after using their services for around four weeks, I am completely hooked! There are several different options for working out which I will list below but my favourite part is that you can work out at home, in total privacy. This is such a big bonus for time stretched, self-conscious Mama’s like myself!
Hey Workout provide the following services:
Workout classes of different lengths
Some of the classes are as short as ten minutes and so you don’t ever have an excuse not to get a quick workout in.
Choose between Live or Recorded Classes
Live classes are great, you can choose to share your webcam with the instructor (don’t worry nobody else can see you!) so that you can receive help and feedback in the same way you would with a normal exercise class. If you can’t make the time of a live class or it’s really not your thing, then you can still follow along at a later date to a pre-recorded class in your own time. They are easy to follow, no complicated steps and no expensive equipment is needed.
One of the most useful features for me is the specific post-natal exercise classes which are separated out into different post-natal time frames.
There are classes recorded for:
- Weeks 6-12 Post-natal
- Months 3 – 9
- Months 9 – 36
This is really helpful, particularly if like me, you have no idea where to start and what is safe to attempt after having a baby. The instructors ease you back into your fitness with a lot of focus on your pelvic floor and core muscles.
Each workout focuses on a key muscle group or objective such as:
- Core toning
- Abs, Thighs & Bum
- Fat Burner etc
This is great if you are looking to tone up a particular area of your body. If you are pregnant and your doctor has given you the go ahead to continue exercising, then there is a brilliant section of classes of prenatal yoga as well as the postnatal classes.
Whilst I have found the postnatal section of Hey Workout the most useful, there are plenty of other workout videos on there for all abilities.
All in all, I would say that with memberships starting from as little as £8 per month, this is a really good value service and a particularly great way to get back into exercising after having a baby.
Hey Workout are offering my readers a chance to win one months free membership – all you have to do is enter the competition below.

Sounds great idea
This sounds right up my street! I hate going to gyms and having the really toned and gorgeous people watch me sweat and awkwardly try to work a machine I have no clue how to use! Bring on the Yoga in the comfort of my own home! #StayClassy

That sounds great as you can do the workout whenever you’ve got the time. Great for those with young children who can’t make a particular class each week as well as working parents as alot of the good classes are during the day. (Evening Pilates classes are non-existent where I live!)
This sounds awesome and just like something I could do with. I think flexibility and accessibility is the key when exercising as a mum so this seems perfect! Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub lovely x

Amazing article! Would love to see you all joining our classes soon!
Ooo this looks perfect for me! I love doing exercises at home because I feel like I’m better able to fit it into my ridiculously busy schedule. I sometimes only do 10 minutes, as you’ve said, just to fit it in and not have an excuse that “I don’t have the time.” Thanks so much for the tips! Have entered the competition, fingers crossed. : ) Thanks for linking up with #StayClassy

Fab! Good luck lovely x
This sounds very cool. Mother hates going to classes as she feels uncoordinated and self-conscious so the idea of working out at home appeals. She has started running again though and whilst she hasn’t got rock hard abs (ha! as if she ever did have!) she does feel mentally better for exercising. I think the mental benefits of working out are as significant and important as the physical ones x #fortheloveofBLOG

Oh that sounds like a really fab idea, I like the idea of a recorded class as you can do it around your own schedule at a convenient time. Definitely something to look into. #fortheloveofBLOG
Great idea – finding the time is half the battle, not having to leave house makes that easier !
Oh wow, I love the fact that the instructor can see you on the webcam to give feedback- it’s the future, who needs gym shame?! #fortheloveofBLOG

This looks fantastic and I admire your motivation! I wish I hadn’t left it so long- my baby is 7 months now. This would be a great way to get back into a good habit and would actually save me money compared to my gym membership which I’m currently wasting because I don’t want to work out in public. Think I’ll give the 14 day trial a whirl! #fortheloveofBLOG

ThIs is a brilliant way to exercise in the privacy of your own home, and so much easier when you have a baby with you, or if it’s raining. I’m impressed that they do ‘live’ exercise, although still I’m not sure I would be brave enough to do that. I’ll definitely be entering your competition. Claire X #fortheloveofBLOG
This is such a good idea. I don’t really do exercise classes, so I can see why this appeals. Thanks for sharing with #fortheloveofBLOG xxx
Oh, how I love yoga! It’s essential part of my weekly wellbeing and I definitely notice in my body (and mind) if I’ve let it slide… This is very affordable and sounds ideal for me as hubby works shifts and I can’t commit to a ‘proper’ class. Thanks for hosting #fortheloveofblog
